Trying to find a balance between my need to communicate, to be in control, and to get over my writer's block – all to fulfill my dream of being the new kid (or old lady) on the "writing block"… Yeah, yeah, I do sarcastic comedy on the side! :D

Inspite of living in Pune, a city with several picnic spots in its vicinity, we end up going places only once in say half a year!! One such trip happened last saturday, and needless to say, we had real fun!! (U can see that on the happy faces in the accompanying photograph, can’t u!!). We started for Sinhagad, 12 of us, in a chakachak tempo-traveller at around 5:30 p.m. Passing through Chandni Chowk, Khadakvasla “chowpatty”, and numerous stories, fables and fairy tales about us, them, and Tanaji Malusare(The Marathi stalwart who became a martyr while capturing this fort from the… Read more

Confused by the title people?? Actually its just my laziness to write 3 seperate reviews for the 3 pieces of work i read/watched of late…. So lets not beat around the bush and get straight to the point! 😉 John Grisham’s Summons is an ok-ok story abt Ray Atlee, a law professor having a celebrity judge as a father and a hopeless drug addict as a brother. When his very-much law abiding father passes away, Ray is startled to find 3 million bucks in cash at his house. Summons is a story about Ray’s quest to find out the truth… Read more

When you are listening to a song, what is more important to you? The music or the lyrics? Well I have always been partial towards music.. I ‘ve always been more attentive to words only when recited without music, you know, poetry and stuff… But our very own Hindi songs too(without which our bollywood movies would be incomplete, ofcourse) do have very meaningful lyrics at times. Just an attempt to list a few which caught my fancy………….. 1) Khul ke muskurale tu : Phir Milenge This song is played in the background when the protagonist understands that she has contracted… Read more

What happens when a 64 years old chef falls in love with a 34 year old practical thinking female, who has a hypocrit 58 year-old as a father? What happens when the father of this girl, goes on a Satyagraha of sorts to prevent his daughter from getting married to a man older than him? What happens when this older man, who has this “aham”, i.e. ego, who has this ponytail before he decides to meet his father-in-law, who has this cancer patient pre-teen acting like a fully grown up “adult”, and who has this age-old mom who watches “Sex… Read more

******************************************************************************** Though I hated the movie ‘Fanaa’, and thought its shero-shayari was very amateurish, I loved this one piece by Ghalib used by Rishi Kapoor in the movie. When Kajol asks her father not to drink in front of her mother’s photograph, he replies, “Sharaab peete baith masjid me ghalib, Sharaab peete baith masjid me Ghalib, Ya aisi jagah dikha jahan khuda na ho!!!” ******************************************************************************** Though I didn’t even watch the movie ‘Babul’ because I didn’t like its concept, I happened to hear a dialogue in the climax of the movie, while surfing TV channels. When confronted by his relatives… Read more

Hi all!!! Another milestone achieved!! My blog hits just touched the 2000 mark! I am soo happy, especially because just around 2 months back, i.e. on 29th March, I was celebrating its 1000 hits, and now—its already reached 2000!! Highly encouraging!!! 🙂 Ofcourse, I must admit, that a major portion of these hits is accounted to one casual post on my blog- that on SMS Shero shayari…… there were many many hits on google to search for shero-shayari, and thankfully google showed my page to them! But whatever the reason, I am all charged up now, and promise to give… Read more

An age-old practise says, that when you are angry, do not react immediately, wait and count till 10….. as counting till 10 gives you the best thing to prevent anger….time! Once you overcome that one moment of anger without reaction, you realise that the situation did not really need any reaction. Hmmm, quite a true saying, but does it really work? For one, its too old to keep implementing time and again. Two, its too short, takes approx. 5 seconds to complete, which is too short a time period for certain people(sometimes like me..hehe). Three, its boring, and all the more so… Read more

The minds of human beings are so very fickle…. a sudden incident can make a sad mind happy, and another sudden one can make the opposite happen…. This incident happened today morning…I was travelling by my office transport, a little sad, a little lost… the bus was pretty slow because of the traffic. Suddenly, it came to a halt. “There’s a live crow on the road”, said the driver to his assistant. I was wondering whether he would carefully drive over the bird so that no harm could come to it; but no; something else happened! Another man on the road came… Read more
